Around Yeu Island (Vendee)

The GR®80, a 27 km trail, starts at Port Joinville, the island’s bustling main port, teeming with fishing boats, cafes, and shops. The trail leads you to the wild coast, where you can marvel at rugged cliffs and hidden coves. You’ll pass by Pointe des Corbeaux, a landmark featuring a lighthouse and breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Continuing south, the path reveals fine sandy beaches and dunes. You’ll wander through picturesque villages like Saint-Sauveur, known for its white houses and flower-lined streets. Don’t miss the Old Castle, a medieval fortress perched on a rocky promontory. The GR®80 then guides you to Pointe du But, crossing moorlands and meadows rich with diverse flora and fauna. This hike around the island of Yeu offers a true immersion into the nature and history of this preserved island.
