The GR®470 is an exceptional hiking route that stretches 180 km across Haute-Loire and Lozère, offering an immersive experience in the wild and varied landscapes of the region. The trail can be covered in 11 stages, each revealing a unique facet of the Allier valley, from the valley floors to the Gévaudan and Velay plateaus.

- Brioude to Villeneuve d’Allier – 20.6 km (approximately 5h30 walk)
- Villeneuve d’Allier to Lavoûte-Chilhac – 13.8 km (approximately 4 hours of walking)
- Lavoûte-Chilhac to Langeac - 18.4 km (approximately 5 hours of walking)
- Langeac to Prades - 18.5 km (approximately 5 hours of walking)
- Prades to Monistrol d’Allier – 12.4 km (approximately 3h30 walk)
- Monistrol d’Allier to Pont d’Alleyras – 17.6 km (approximately 5 hours of walking)
- Pont d’Alleyras in Chapeauroux - 22.2 km (approximately 6 hours of walking)
- Chapeauroux to Landos - 12.7 km (approximately 3h15 walk)
- Landos to Langogne - 20 km (approximately 5 hours of walking)
- Langogne to Cheylard-l’Évêque – 17.5 km (approximately 4h20 walk)
- Cheylard-l'Évêque to La Bastide-Puylaurent - 22.5 km (approximately 6h30 walk)
Accommodation and Services: The GR®470 offers a variety of accommodation, including B&Bs, lodges, campsites and hotels. For those who wish to transport luggage or people, services such as the Postal Mail are available. Return to Starting Point: To return to Brioude, hikers can take the Cévenol train to La Bastide-Puylaurent, offering another perspective of the wild valley.
