GR®72
From Bez Pass (Ardèche) to Barre-des-Cévennes (Lozère)
The GR®72 follows the watershed, linking the granite plateaus of the Ardèche to the schist ridges of the Lozère, in the heart of the Cévennes National Park. Heir to a thousand-year history, the route follows ancient transhumance trails and medieval roads that were once crucial for the salt and wine trade. The landscapes unfold with striking diversity: from the dense forests of La Bastide-Puylaurent to the fortified village of La Garde-Guérin, overlooking the Chassezac gorges. After a stop at Lake Villefort, the path climbs towards the granite boulders of Mont Lozère. Crossing the Tarn at Pont-de-Montvert, hikers finally walk in the footsteps of the Camisards.
