GR®501 Moselle River Path

From Bussang (Vosges) to Sierck-les-Bains (Moselle)

GR®501

The GR®501 begins in Bussang, where the spruce forests shelter the source of the Moselle. The trail crosses wet meadows, precious refuges for the Eurasian Curlew and storks. At higher altitudes, the limestone lawns of Lorry-Mardigny reveal their rare orchids. The Roman aqueduct of Jouy-aux-Arches overlooks a lively riverbank animated by the ballet of kingfishers. Along the canal, hikers walk through a green corridor where the European Beaver thrives. In Metz, the elegance of yellow stone gives way to the changing former iron valley. Nature reclaims the industrial wastelands, creating a dialogue between industry and pioneering flora. The route then rises toward the vineyard hills, offering views of the meanders. The journey ends in Sierck-les-Bains, between steep cliffs and soaring peregrine falcons.
