GR®211From Veulettes-sur-Mer to Caudebec-en-Caux (Seine-Maritime) |
The GR211 trail climbs to the top of white chalk cliffs, offering breathtaking views of the Manche before winding its way into the heart of the Pays de Caux region. The route crosses loamy plateaus and deep valleys, testaments to the marine and fluvial erosion that has shaped Normandy's identity. History and heritage mark every stage: from traditional enclosed farmsteads, fortified farms surrounded by beech-planted embankments, to the prestigious abbeys of the Seine Valley. The arrival in Caudebec-en-Caux, a medieval gem nicknamed by Francis I "the most beautiful chapel in the kingdom," signifies the meeting of land and river. On the nature front, hikers traverse ancient beech forests and hedged meadows where biodiversity is preserved.
