From Chinon (Indre-et-Loire) to La Ribière (Haute-Vienne)
The GR®48 winds its way through diverse landscapes, from the lush valleys of the Creuse to the bocage plateaus, offering total immersion in unspoiled nature. In terms of heritage, the route is dotted with historical treasures, such as the Abbey of Saint-Savin, listed for its unique frescoes. Hikers discover a rich history, marked by the influence of the Dukes of Aquitaine and the remains of medieval fortresses guarding the waterways. The flora and fauna are highly diverse, particularly in the wetlands and dense forests lining the path. Between characterful villages and bucolic panoramas, the GR®48 is an authentic journey through the heart of France.
