GR®63

From Avignon (Vaucluse) to Cabane-Vieille Pass (Gard)

The GR®63, stretching 149 kilometres, begins in Avignon, a city celebrated for its majestic Palais des Papes and its iconic bridge. The hike continues towards Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, a charming medieval village with picturesque streets. Along the way, the trail passes through notable locations such as Rochefort-du-Gard, Saint-Hilaire-d'Ozilhan and Castillon-du-Gard, home to the famous Pont du Gard, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The trail meanders through rolling vineyards and garrigue landscapes, characteristic of the Mediterranean region, before climbing towards the foothills of the Cévennes. The flora includes aromatic plants such as lavender and thyme, while the fauna is dominated by birds of prey and reptiles typical of Provence.
